Readings readings and more readings

1. Marcel Duchamp, the creative act.
I think what he was trying to say that the artist doesnt create just to create, but rather he is taking what he sees and applies it to his artwork. The spectator is also part of the process, the artist makes something, and the world decides if it is creative or not.

2.Selections From Dada Almanac
DADA is a pretty good example of the problem I have with intermedia as a whole, its like Reed Richards trying to understand magic, dada can be about anything, literally anything, its totally free form, its crazy, dada is the opposite from the expressionism, while its separate from the real world, dada is centered in reality

3.Intermedia: Four Histories, 3 directions, 2 futures
Okay, I think I have a better stance of what intermedia actually is after reading this, I usually think of art forms the same as scientific studies, biology is different from physics, chemestry is different from astromomy and so on so forth, but now that I think about it, intermedia is more like geology, which is a mixture of differences, chemestry biology, and even physics, intermedia is a mixture of different art forms, drawing, painting, woodwork, metalwork, performance etc.

4.Dick Higgins, intermedia Okay I get it I do, intermedia is also about questioning things too, the nature of how the art world nay, how the world at large works.

5. Micheal Rush "Media Madness"
I think this more or less discusses the evolution of art over the years, as we become more tecnologically immersed, we will become more inclined to use machines to create art rather than using our hands, I dont really like using a computer to create art, it doesnt feel right, art should be felt rather than clicking and typing on a keyboard.

6. Lev Manovick, "Information and Form"
Good form, bad form no form at all, I think what manovich is saying is that information itself can have some kind of form in art. That both kinds of art, like formless drips and more rigid forms of art can exist. Information can be used lots of different ways, it all depends on how we use them.

Oh yeah before I forget, Project 4 and 5 were power points about how a comic book is made and a study on procrastination respectively, I had to think of them quickly because being in the hospital can really set you back a while.
