Mr. Rush, "Media Madness"
hm, technology and art. Technology is Art. The form, process and function of technology, I feel, meets the requirements of the definition of Art. I am not satisfied in saying technology is as much a tool for art as a paintbrush, though. I feel that the more a piece involves technology the less human or 'real' the piece. I think I could never create something through a machine and be comfortable calling it Art.
INFO&FORM
I went to an art festival(bonnaroo) last year that had something along the lines of an 'electrolobby', a tent set up for interwebular frolicking. I didn't go in, because all leading up to the fest, I was anticipating the different pieces I would observe and co-create with other fest-goers. To see a tent with computers and each one starred at by a single individual it digusted me. I felt that festivals had the goal of gathering like-minded people to interact and mingle, to grow socially and expand through many dinensions. a place I felt for people to people relations to expand and they are allowing for the relation of people to machinery. But I'm very sure not many hold similar views. For this I am confident for that one experience will not be my last.
