-Oddly enough this reading made me think of an exhibit that was here at the U of Iowa the 2008 semester before the flood. "The Voom Portraits"! And oddly enough the artist Robert Wilson who created the exhibit was mentioned in the reading. "Voom" makes a hell of a lot more sense to me after reading this. The exhibit lies within the discussion of media madness. Wilson shot live action stills of celebrities in painterly compositions, using over the top lighting schemes (also in painterly fashion) and presented them to the viewer via Voom Hd TV's as the frame. I stood looking at these pieces on a few different occasions. The first time I was startled to find that these were not simply snap shots, but instead subjects caught in real time in some cases arranged as still in pose as possible with gravity taking effect causing limbs to naturally move. This, to me is a perfect example of how modern media is being melded into the world and forms of art.
Lev Manovich, "Information and Form"
-Information has always in some "form" or another been art. From the earliest cave paintings to Duchamp's Fountain, information is art. Why not the drubbing together of technological advancement which we use in our daily lives?
